On December 24, the building of the Yerevan State Azerbaijan Drama Theater was put into operation in Baku after major repairs and reconstruction works carried out in accordance with the relevant Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. An opening ceremony was held on this occasion, Ministry of Culture told APA.
Before the opening ceremony, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Adil Karimli, the theater's staff, cultural figures, representatives of the West Azerbaijan Community and MPs got acquainted with the conditions created in the building. The acting director of the theater informed the guests about the major repairs carried out, the created modern infrastructure and opportunities.
Within the framework of the reconstruction project of the 3,000 sq.m. theater building, the theater stage was fully adapted to modern standards, and a new small stage was created in addition. Stage mechanisms, light and sound systems were updated, and the technical infrastructure was built in accordance with international theater experience. The auditorium was improved in terms of acoustics, and the seats and interior design were reshaped based on the principles of functionality and aesthetic harmony.
For the effective activity of the theater troupe, rehearsal halls, make-up rooms, decorations and two new technical service areas were created, and all necessary conditions were provided for the comfortable work of the administrative and creative staff.
It was noted that the major repairs and reconstruction works carried out not only serve to renew the infrastructure, but also to strengthen the creative potential of the Yerevan State Azerbaijan Drama Theater, its full integration into the modern theater process. This renewal expands the repertoire capabilities of the theater and gives impetus to the development of national theater art.
Then the opening ceremony and a meeting with the theater troupe took place. The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Adil Karimli, MP, Chairman of the West Azerbaijan Community Aziz Alakbarli, Chairman of the Union of Theater Workers People's Artist Haji Ismayilov and others.
In the speeches, gratitude was expressed to President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President, Head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva for the high attention and care shown to the conditions created in the building and the development of our culture.
At the end of the meeting, a congratulatory and thank-you address was read to President Ilham Aliyev on behalf of the staff of the Yerevan State Azerbaijan Drama Theater.
