Punishment is being established for committing explosions, arson, mass poisoning, the spread of infectious diseases aimed at weakening the scientific and technical potential of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as disrupting the normal functioning of critical information infrastructure, energy, transport, and telecommunications networks, or through the use of artificial intelligence technologies or specialized software for the same purposes, APA reports.
This is reflected in the proposed amendment to the Criminal Code discussed at today’s meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Defense, Security, and Counter-Corruption.
These acts will be punishable by imprisonment for a term of eight to fifteen years.
The same acts, if committed by a criminal group, during a state of emergency or martial law, under a regime of a social emergency situation, as well as during mass unrest, or by a person using their official position, and if they result in death or other serious consequences due to negligence, will be punishable by imprisonment for a term of twelve to twenty years.
A person who participated in the preparation of such an act will be exempt from criminal liability if they promptly inform the authorities or otherwise assist in preventing the act, provided that their actions do not constitute another crime.
