Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan FMs discuss strategic ties, regional situation, welcome Iran-US ceasefire - UPDATED-2

On April 8, 2026, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Kazakhstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yermek Kosherbayev, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.

The ministers first held a one-on-one meeting, which was later continued in an expanded format with the participation of both sides’ delegations.

During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the level of strategic relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, and extensive discussions were held on issues arising from these relations, as well as the regional situation.

The parties expressed serious concern over the tensions in the Middle East and emphasized the importance of resolving conflicts only through diplomatic means.

The ceasefire reached between Iran and the United States was welcomed.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his counterpart about the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the reconstruction and rebuilding efforts carried out in the liberated territories and the return of former internally displaced persons.

Gratitude was expressed for the Kurmangazy Children’s Creativity Center built in the city of Fuzuli with the support of the Kazakh side.

At the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan  Jeyhun Bayramov had an extended meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev during his official visit to Baku, Azerbaijan, APA reports.

Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan reaffirmed strong strategic ties, noting growing collaboration across economy, trade, energy, industry, agriculture, transport, logistics, tech, and digital sectors.

Ministers also emphasized the Middle Corridor’s role in boosting Europe-Asia trade, and the role of joint projects contributing to transit infrastructure and regional connectivity.

Both sides expressed concern over the tensions in the Middle East, expressed hope that the ceasefire reached between the parties will bring stability and peace to the region.

Ministers also discussed other regional and global security challenges.

Minister Bayramov also briefed his counterpart on the ongoing normalization and peace process b/w Azerbaijan & Armenia.

During the meeting, we discussed key aspects of the Azerbaijan–Kazakhstan strategic partnership, emphasizing the importance of high-level political dialogue, expanding trade and economic cooperation, and strengthening connectivity within the framework of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

We also exchanged views on regional and international security issues, underlining the significance of joint efforts in promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development across the region.

We reaffirmed commitment to further deepening bilateral ties, as well as enhancing cooperation within regional and international organizations," the Ministry said in an X post.
