Armed attack on market in Moscow region, Azerbaijani migrants threatened -VIDEO

An armed attack was carried out at a market in Moscow Oblast where Azerbaijanis work, APA's Russian bureau reports.

The incident occurred on June 1 in the Fryanovo settlement of the Shchyolkovo district of Moscow Oblast. Two individuals entered the market, where our compatriots work, with a “Winchester” type firearm and threatened non-Russian nationals, including Azerbaijanis, working there.

APA has obtained video footage of the armed attack on the market and the threats made with firearms against migrants working there, including Azerbaijanis. The footage was captured by surveillance cameras of nearby establishments.

Svetlana Mammadova, a local resident of Fryanovo working at the market, resisted the attackers.

“Two brothers, Sergey and Aleksandr Gavrilov, attacked the market with a weapon. They got out of their car and pointed their guns at the migrants working in the market. I tried to calm them down, but they hit me with the blunt side of the gun. They don’t want non-Russian nationals living or working in our settlement,” said S. Mammadova.

A lawyer residing in Russia, Alekber Garayev, stated that Azerbaijanis living in Fryanovo had sent him the footage: “The videos clearly show a person entering the market with a Winchester firearm, even pointing the gun at people. He attempts to fire the weapon. This is indeed a very frightening situation. Honestly, when I arrived here, I felt like I was back in the early 1990s. Of course, the relevant authorities must deal with this because all nationalities are equal before the constitution, and no one’s rights should be violated.”

Svetlana Mammadova stated that she filed a complaint with the police regarding the incident: “But the police have not taken any action yet. The camera recorded the incident; everything is in the video. The police haven’t said anything; they’ve only accepted the complaint. This is not the first incident. These brothers frequently attack the market.”

The Fryanovo police department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Moscow Oblast stated that an investigation is underway regarding the incident.
