Iran atomic agency spokesman: Some above-ground facilities in Natanz damaged accompanied with fire

In our last letter to the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency and the UN Secretary-General two years ago, we wrote that international threats against Iran's nuclear facilities could pose a serious threat. This necessitated the intervention of international institutions and organizations, Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said, APA reports citing IRNA,

He said that although his country had taken preventive measures against the recent attacks, what happened caused serious harm to the innocent population, the military leadership, and scientists working in the nuclear field.

B. Kamalvandi said that he visited the Fordow nuclear facility in the morning and that no incidents were recorded there.

“Only some above-ground facilities in Natanz were damaged, and this was observed with fire. According to the information given to me, it was possible to extinguish the fires, and no losses were recorded. Although the facility was not significantly damaged, its scale is not yet fully known. Only a number of damages are observed on its surface. As you know, Natanz and Fordow are located underground. I should also say that the Martyr Ahmadi Roshan facility in Natanz was repeatedly hit.”
