As a result of monitoring conducted within its mandate, the Temporary Commission of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) against Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats has determined that following the illegal actions committed against Azerbaijani citizens in the city of Yekaterinburg, Russian Federation, a wide-scale information campaign has been launched against Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis living in Russia by various news channels and individuals on Russian media and the Telegram platform, the Milli Majlis told APA.
During the investigation, it was observed that the aggressive behavior and inhumane treatment towards Azerbaijani compatriots have been widely promoted by the mentioned sources, accompanied by provocative calls for unfriendly actions against the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Previously, the commission had also provided detailed statements on attempts to influence the activities of the Republic of Azerbaijan—based on international law and national interests—through various hybrid threat tools.
In coordination with the relevant committees of the Milli Majlis, its Apparatus, and other state bodies, the Temporary Commission is taking preventive measures against ongoing disinformation campaigns targeting the country.
In light of the ongoing information campaign, the commission urges all citizens and compatriots living abroad to rely solely on information provided by official state institutions and representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
