Erdoğan: Our ties with Azerbaijan are unlike those with any other country

“Our relationship with Azerbaijan is different from those between other states. We are bound to Azerbaijan not only by friendship but also by brotherhood,” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told journalists following his visit to Azerbaijan, APA’s Istanbul correspondent reports.

He noted that in this regard, the slogan “Two states, one nation” is not just a phrase.

“It carries deep meaning and has a concrete basis. We have proven this time and again throughout history. That’s why we cannot remain indifferent to what happens in this region. Peace and stability in the South Caucasus will benefit everyone. The diplomatic framework of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia has also been finalized. At the end of 2024, agreement was reached on the final text of the peace treaty during talks held in Brussels, Moscow, and Tbilisi. Although Armenia initially opposed the Zangezur corridor, it is now demonstrating a more flexible approach to participate in economic integration. The development of this region is an opportunity not only for Azerbaijan, but also for Armenia, for us, for Iran, and for other countries,” Erdoğan said.
