The US is providing a lot of assistance to Ukraine, which is at war with Russia, US President Donald Trump said in a statement to journalists, APA reports.
The American leader was asked why the US did not help Ukraine as it did Israel.
In response, Trump said that if he were president, there would not have been any war between Russia and Ukraine:
"I am helping Ukraine. I am helping them a lot. This war should never have started. If I were president, you would not have a war with Russia today."
He also added that he had a good phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in recent days.
However, he specifically noted that he was disappointed with his recent phone conversation with Vladimir Putin.
