Erdogan discusses PKK disarmament with DEM Party delegation

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received the delegation of the DEM Party, APA reports, citing NTV.

The main topic on the agenda of the meeting was the disarmament of the PKK — considered the most critical phase of the “Türkiye Without Terror” process.

Note that this is the second meeting between the Turkish head of state and the leaders of the DEM Party.

The leadership of the DEM Party has held talks with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan on Imralı Island.

Recall that some time ago, Abdullah Öcalan, the imprisoned leader of the PKK terrorist organization, made an appeal to his supporters. In a written message circulated in his name, he called: “Lay down your arms!”

PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan has been held in Imralı prison for 26 years. He was captured in February 1999 in Kenya as a result of an operation by the National Intelligence Organization and brought to Türkiye. Although he was initially sentenced to death, the verdict was later commuted to life imprisonment.
