The “Global Sustainable Transport Forum” was held in the People’s Republic of China with the participation of representatives from various countries, APA-Economics reports.
The event aimed to establish a holistic approach and unified strategy to ensure sustainable development in the transport sector, share innovative and replicable initiatives, and strengthen global cooperation on digital development, green and low-carbon technologies, and the inclusivity and safety of transport systems.
Azerbaijan was represented at the forum by Fariz Aliyev, Head of the Transport Policy Department at the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
During the forum, three main initiatives proposed to ensure effective implementation of the set goals were widely discussed: the “Framework Agreement on the Development and Cooperation of Global Sustainable Transport,” the “Sustainable Transport Index,” and “Best Practices in Global Sustainable Transport.”
The meeting also addressed cooperation in building sustainable transport and the possibilities of establishing a branch of this Center in Azerbaijan. It was noted that opening such a center in our country would be significant for the development of research and innovations in the transport sector.
