Former Russian Transport Minister Roman Starovoyt has been found dead at his home in Odintsovo, near Moscow, Andrey Kartapolov, head of the State Duma’s Defense Committee told RTVI, APA reports.
According to “Mash,” a PM pistol was found next to the former minister’s body.
According to reports by Baza and Kommersant, Starovoyt’s suicide may be linked to a criminal case. Sources claim that Alexey Smirnov — the former deputy of the ex-head of the Kursk region, who was previously arrested on suspicion of embezzling 1 billion rubles — gave testimony against him.

Former Russian Minister of Transport and former Governor of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoyt, has committed suicide, APA reports citing Russian media.
According to initial reports, he died by suicide in his apartment.
Note that Roman Starovoyt was dismissed from the position of Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation by a decree of President Vladimir Putin.
Starovoyt had been serving as Minister of Transport since May 2024. Prior to that, he held the position of Governor of the Kursk region.
