The storage levels of underground gas reservoirs in the European Union countries have reached approximately 70%, APA-Economics reports, citing the European Gas Infrastructure Operators Association (Gas Infrastructure Europe, GIE).
According to the information, the storage level of underground gas reservoirs in the EU countries is approximately 69.96%, which is 7.8 percentage points lower than the average indicator of the last five years.
It was reported that currently the total volume of gas in the EU countries’ reservoirs exceeds 76.5 billion cubic meters.
Note that according to the requirements of the European Commission, EU countries must ensure that their gas reservoirs are filled up to 90% by November 1 every year in order to increase reserves for the winter period in case of supply disruptions or anomalously cold weather conditions.
Recall that since December 31, 2020, the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe via the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) has started.
