Lavrov announced conditions for Putin's meeting with Zelenskyy

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy is possible only after all key issues have been previously worked out, APA reports.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced new conditions for a possible meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, such a meeting can only take place if “all issues that require discussion at the highest level are thoroughly worked out.”

The minister paid special attention to the issue of the legitimacy of the Ukrainian leadership. He stated that if the agreements were to proceed to the stage of signing, “it would be necessary to resolve the issue of the legitimacy of the signatory from Kyiv.”

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that Zelenskyy has not revoked the decree he issued three years ago, which directly bans negotiations with Putin.

“It is clear that his activity on organizing a summit with the Russian leader is meant to allegedly show a constructive approach to the settlement process, but in reality, he simply wants to replace the serious, difficult, and intense work of agreeing on the principles of a lasting resolution of the crisis with such effects in the style of the Club of the Cheerful and Resourceful,” Lavrov emphasized.
