Political consultations held between Azerbaijan and Uganda

On August 27, 2025, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda John Mulimba, MFA told APA.

The meeting discussed political, economic, trade, energy security, humanitarian, etc. aspects of Azerbaijan-Uganda relations, cooperation within regional and international organizations, including the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, the African Union, as well as regional issues.

The parties, who expressed their mutual congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Uganda, noted with satisfaction the existence of broad prospects for the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

The importance of the joint cooperation demonstrated during the implementation of the initiatives put forward by our country within the framework of its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, including the establishment of the Youth Organization of the Movement, was noted. The importance of continuing our relations, which gained an intensive character during Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, during Uganda's chairmanship of the Movement was emphasized.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also provided the counterpart with detailed information on our country's initiatives and plans to expand the development and use of alternative energy sources, and noted that the renewable energy sector is one of the potential directions for developing cooperation.

It was emphasized that the successful implementation of Azerbaijan's "ASAN Service" model in Uganda in the field of public services is an indicator of the usefulness of the exchange of experience between our countries.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the counterpart about the results of the Washington meeting held on August 8, 2025, and noted that the text of the "Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia" was initialed within the framework of this historic meeting, as well as a joint appeal was addressed to the OSCE Minsk Group and related structures, which are remnants of the past conflict.

Minister of State John Mulimba conveyed his congratulations on the historic agreements reached in the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process within the framework of the Washington meeting and expressed hope for the successful outcome of the process.

During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.

On the same day, political consultations were held between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uganda. The political consultations were chaired by Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev from the Azerbaijani side and by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs John Mulimba from the Ugandan side.
