Azerbaijani film presented at Venice Film Festival

The film "Sermon to the Void" by renowned Azerbaijani director Hilal Baydarov was presented in the "Out of Competition Fiction" section of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, held from August 27 to September 6, the Ministry of Culture told APA.

According to the information, the screenplay, which was screened on September 5 with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ARKA) operating under the Ministry of Culture, was met with great interest by experts and viewers.

A press conference was held after the screening of the film, where Azerbaijani culture and cinema were discussed. The ideological and aesthetic merits of "Sermon to the Void", the last film in Hilal Baydarov's "Sermon" trilogy, were highly appreciated.

It was noted that the film is of great importance in terms of presenting Azerbaijani literature, way of thinking, and folklore in the world. Based on the work of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Mahammad Fuzuli, the film interprets the search for the water of life by lovers as a search for the inner self.

The film's scriptwriters are Hilal Baydarov and Aysu Akcan, and the producer is Orkhan Fikretoglu. The film, a joint work of Azerbaijani, Mexican and Turkish cinematographers, stars Huseyn Nasirov, Maryam Naghiyeva, Rena Askerova, Elshan Abbasov, and Orkhan Isganderli.
