The current state of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran and prospects for future development were discussed, the Cabinet of Ministers toild APA.
As part of his visit to Tehran, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chairman of the State Commission on Cooperation in Economic, Trade, and Humanitarian Spheres between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran from the Azerbaijani side, Shahin Mustafayev, met with the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Chairman of the State Commission from the Iranian side, Farzaneh Sadegh.
At the meeting, the implementation of the issues arising from the Memorandum of Understanding signed as a result of the latest session of the Joint State Commission, as well as the current state of ongoing joint projects, was reviewed. Discussions were held on the current status and further expansion of cooperation in the fields of economy, transportation, customs, border, oil, gas, trade, investment, and humanitarian areas. The meeting also included information on the implementation status of the construction of the Aghbend-Kelaleh bridge within the Araz Corridor and the expansion of the Kelaleh-Julfa road. In accordance with the instruction of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (or the Presidents of both countries), satisfaction was expressed regarding the launch of direct flights on the Baku-Tehran-Baku and Baku-Tabriz-Baku routes, and there was an exchange of views on increasing the number of flights and resolving current issues in transit transportation.
Within the framework of his visit to Tehran, Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev also met with the Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Aliabadi, discussions were held on the Khudaferin - Giz Galasi and Ordubad - Marazad projects being implemented between the two countries, as well as on electricity exchange and the joint efficient use of water resources.
