The Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB), Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, met with the head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV, as part of his visit to the Vatican, CMB told APA.
It was reported that the meeting took place after the general audience held in St. Peter's Square. Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade conveyed the greetings of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva to the Pope, emphasized the importance of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's activities in the Vatican in recent years, and informed about the construction of the second Catholic Church in our country.
The Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board said that it would be a great honor to see Pope Leo XIV in Azerbaijan. It was noted that if the Pope visits our country, he will be able to see firsthand the interfaith harmony, the high level of state-religion relations, and the multicultural atmosphere in Azerbaijan.
Pope Leo said that he was looking forward to visiting our country and would arrange it according to his work schedule.
