Azerbaijan forecasts 9.2% pension indexation in 2026 -UPDATED

According to legislation, all pensions are indexed and increased each year based on official statistical data on the previous year’s average monthly wage provided by the State Statistical Committee, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population told APA.

It was noted that, according to forecast indicators, the pension indexation for 2026 is expected to be approximately 9.2%, the average pension is also projected to increase by 9.2% to 590 manats, and the old-age pension is expected to reach 629 manats.

Next year, pension indexation is forecast to be 9.2%, said Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population Anar Aliyev during a discussion of the "2026 State Budget Envelope of the Republic of Azerbaijan" at a joint meeting of the Milli Majlis Committees on Labor and Social Policy and Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, APA reports.

The Minister said that the funds allocated for financing labor pensions for 2026 are planned to increase by 782.4 million manats or 10.9% compared to the approved expenditures for 2025: "81.2% of this, or 635.6 million manats falls on the share of expenses related to indexation, and the rest falls on expenses related to financing the amounts of newly assigned and recalculated pensions. According to the forecast indicators, indexation for 2026 is projected to be approximately 9.2%, the amount of the average pension is again projected to increase by 9.2% to 590 manats, and the amount of the old-age pension is projected to be 629 manats."
