Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has commented on the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruling regarding Selahattin Demirtaş, the co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), APA reports, citing Turkish media.
Erdoğan stated that whatever the judicial system decides on this matter will be implemented.
Note that the ECHR’s ruling on Demirtaş’s release has become final.
As a reminder, Demirtaş was sentenced to 42 years in prison in connection with the 2014 Kobani protests and has been imprisoned for nine years.
