President Donald Trump, saying he believes a peace agreement is “close” for Ukraine, described “one or two very thorny issues” that remain, APA reports citing CNN.
He declined to put a percentage on terms that had been agreed, but said it could be close to 95%.
He acknowledged the fate of the eastern Donbas region, which Russia has demanded Ukraine surrender, remained an outstanding issue.
“We’re getting closer to an agreement on that. And that’s a big issue,” he told reporters in a joint appearance with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. “Certainly, that’s one of the big issues, and I think we’re closer.”
