Russian President Vladimir Putin will open the building of the Azerbaijani State Musical Drama Theatre in Derbent via videoconference, said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
The theatre, with its deep-rooted traditions, is well known not only to all Russians but also worldwide.
The Kremlin representative noted that the Russian President will take part in the opening of the reconstructed building of the Azerbaijani State Musical Drama Theatre in Derbent via video link today.
Peskov stated that the roots of this historic theatre date back to the 19th century: “At one time, representatives of the Azerbaijani intellectuals established a Turkish society in Derbent, which later evolved into the Azerbaijani theatre. Notably, guests from Azerbaijan will be in Derbent today to mark the opening of this important cultural venue.”
