Azerbaijan border guards detain nine for crossing violations in March

Nine people were detained by the State Border Service for violating the state border during March 2026, said the Press Center of the State Border Service in a statement, APA reports.

Among them, 3 were citizens of Azerbaijan, 3 of Pakistan, 2 of Iran, and 1 of Kazakhstan. As a result of measures to combat illegal migration, 6 individuals attempting to cross the state border using falsified date stamps and passports, as well as documents belonging to others, were detained.

A total of 72 people were detained for violating border regime rules, and appropriate measures were taken against them;

As a result of crime prevention measures, 322 individuals wanted by law enforcement agencies were detained and handed over to the relevant authorities; attempts by 582 individuals banned from leaving the country to exit were prevented, as well as the entry of 11 individuals banned from entering the country.

As a result of measures to combat the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, 541 kilograms and 132 grams of narcotic substances, as well as 17 narcotic-containing tablets, were detected and removed from circulation.

As a result of measures to combat smuggling activities, smuggled goods with a total value of 7 million 573 thousand 290 manats, including Russian Federation currency, ammunition for firearms, medicines, and tobacco products, were detected and seized.
