European stock markets also saw gains, with the FTSE 100 index increasing by 2.51% to 10,608.88 points, Germany’s DAX index rising by 5.06% to 24,080.63 points, and France’s CAC-40 index up by 4.49% to 8,263.87 points.
In global markets, the euro strengthened by 0.05% against the US dollar to 1.1669 dollars.
