Mascherano resigns as Inter Miami head coach

Argentine Javier Mascherano has decided to resign as head coach of American soccer club Inter Miami, according to the team's press service, APA reports.

Mascherano decided to end the work for personal reasons.

"First and foremost, I would like to thank the club for the trust they have placed in me, everyone in the organization for their collective efforts, and especially the players, thanks to whom we have been able to experience unforgettable moments," Mascherano said. "I also want to thank the fans, because without them, none of this would have been possible. I will always cherish the memory of our first star, and wherever I am, I will continue to wish the club all the best for the future. I have no doubt that the club will continue to achieve success. I send you all a big hello and thank you for everything."

Mascherano, 41, has been at the helm of Inter Miami since November 2024. He previously managed the Argentina Olympic and U21 national teams. Under his leadership, the American club won its first Major League Soccer (MLS) title.
