Kremlin to announce May 9 ceasefire dates once decision is made

The Kremlin will announce the dates of the May 9 Parade ceasefire as soon as a decision is made, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

Speaking about the proposal for a May 9 Parade ceasefire with Ukraine, Peskov noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed during their phone conversation to continue mediation efforts in resolving conflicts, but there are currently no specific dates for new negotiations or visits.

Peskov emphasized that the May 9 Parade is a special holiday, therefore humanitarian initiatives such as the ceasefire proposed by Russia are highly relevant.

According to him, Russia does not need a response from Kyiv to declare a ceasefire during the May 9 Parade: “This is Putin’s decision, and it will be implemented.”

Peskov said that due to the high concentration of conflicts, a single conversation between Putin and Trump cannot improve the global situation: “The global situation is so tense that it is difficult to reverse these trends overnight.”

The Kremlin official also stated that Putin and Trump did not discuss the UAE’s withdrawal from OPEC during their phone call yesterday.
