APA presents the next article with reference to Minval Politika:
In its previous materials, the editorial office of Minval Politika had already exposed the scale of the anti-Azerbaijani campaign carried out by former International Criminal Court prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo. It was shown that an entire network consisting of political and information pressure against Azerbaijan is operating, and that the names of Josep Borrell, as well as Russian businessmen of Armenian origin Samvel Karapetyan and Ruben Vardanyan, appear in this network.
Moreover, Ocampo himself openly admitted that artificial intelligence and a supercomputer in Brazil were planned to be used against Baku. In other words, this is no longer about the chaotic activities of individual lobbyists, but about an international pressure system established against Azerbaijan.
However, new materials received by our editorial office reveal an even more alarming picture.
The video footage published today clearly shows who is behind the hysteria raised in recent months around the illegal structures demolished in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region. Armenian lobbyists are trying to present those structures as “ancient churches.” Furthermore, the footage also makes it clear which representatives of the Armenian authorities and Pashinyan’s inner circle maintained contact with Ocampo and effectively supported this campaign.
We present the video footage and its transcript below:
Luis Moreno Ocampo: We can understand that the political agency has not intervened, it can simply show some things. That is what I am doing. I am doing this regarding Armenia as well. Today Armenia is in terrible condition because Pashinyan has arrested two bishops. He is engaged in a life-and-death struggle with the Armenian Church. He accused the Catholicos, who is like the Armenian Pope, of having a son, and this is true. And then, he is engaged in a life-and-death struggle. My bishop in London is also suffering greatly because of this. But I tell him, listen, we always say: “We do not interfere.”
Interlocutor: But doesn’t it create problems for you because of your involvement in or representation of the Armenian community? And it could be against what the Armenian president wants to do. It seems to me that some kind of blockade is being created.
Luis Moreno Ocampo: I have an agreement. The agreement is not with Pashinyan himself, but with his foreign minister, that we will resolve this issue, free the Armenians, and protect Nagorno-Karabakh. And we will never interfere in internal matters.
Interlocutor: Okay.
Luis Moreno Ocampo: Therefore, they thanked me. They believe that external pressure from us is beneficial for them because they cannot be aggressive with Aliyev in negotiations, so this is useful for them.
Interlocutor: Tell me about the elections. They…?
Luis Moreno Ocampo: In Armenia?
Interlocutor: In Armenia. They are now… I mean they…
Luis Moreno Ocampo: In May. I always tell the government: “Listen, guys, I will never interfere in national interests.”
Interlocutor: Because you told me that you have good relations with the foreign minister.
Luis Moreno Ocampo: Yes, Armenia’s? Yes. But then I promised him that I would not… Look, they are doing disgusting things because they arrested four bishops. Because the bishop was campaigning in government and the government believed that the bishops were working for Russia.
As can be seen from the published materials, the name of one of Nikol Pashinyan’s closest associates — Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan — appears in the campaign surrounding the detained Armenians. Moreover, Ocampo himself confirms that he has “good relations” with him.
And here an extremely troubling question arises for Yerevan. If Armenia’s foreign minister maintains contact with a person promoting theses against Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, coordinating an international anti-Azerbaijani campaign, and fueling a revanchist agenda, then how seriously can the Armenian authorities’ “peace-loving” statements be taken?
In our previous material, the words of Ocampo’s son Tomas were also cited. He openly stated: “What we need to achieve is to remove Pashinyan — the prime minister — from office.” Against this background, the questions become even greater.
Either Armenia’s foreign minister is secretly involved in promoting a separatist and revanchist agenda behind the back of his own leadership, thereby effectively undermining the peace process formed after the historic meeting of the Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders in Washington.
Or everything taking place is part of Yerevan’s deliberate strategy and is being implemented with the consent of Nikol Pashinyan. Such a strategy involves continuing anti-Azerbaijani narratives and attempts to question Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity through diaspora structures, paid lobbyists, and Western political platforms. At the same time, Yerevan prefers to conduct this campaign covertly while avoiding acting openly.
That is precisely why the numerous resolutions and pressure campaigns periodically adopted against Baku in the European Parliament no longer appear accidental. Increasingly, the impression is emerging that the same forces operating in close connection with Armenian political circles stand behind these processes.
The most striking issue here is the topic of “ancient churches.” The video footage we published suggests that the hysteria surrounding the “destruction of Christian heritage,” actively promoted abroad, particularly in the United Kingdom with the support of certain religious figures, is also coordinated by Ocampo and structures connected to him.
Ocampo openly admits that he has some “bishop” in London who is “suffering greatly.”
In reality, however, the issue concerns buildings and structures constructed during the occupation period. It is enough to recall the church built in Lachin on the site of the destroyed house of an Azerbaijani family. Materials remaining from the destroyed house were even used during the construction. Azerbaijan has repeatedly emphasized that such structures cannot enjoy any “cultural immunity.” Genuine ancient Christian monuments in the country are preserved and restored. Illegal “unauthorized structures” from the occupation period, however, will be demolished.
Another point also attracts attention. The same “European political community” that is now creating hysteria around “Christian heritage” preferred for many years to ignore the systematic destruction of Azerbaijani cultural heritage in the occupied territories. Now it is becoming clearer why Europe so insistently looked the other way and who was interested in maintaining this silence.
In other words, this is no longer about “human rights advocacy” or “care for cultural heritage,” but about a full-scale information and political operation against Azerbaijan.
In its previous exclusive materials, the editorial office of Minval Politika exposed the scale of the anti-Azerbaijani campaign involving Ocampo, Josep Borrell, as well as Russian businessmen of Armenian origin Samvel Karapetyan and Ruben Vardanyan.
Today, however, we have identified another “hero” — and this time one from Nikol Pashinyan’s closest circle.
In conclusion, it can be said that against the backdrop of the exposure of Ararat Mirzoyan’s ties with Ocampo, Yerevan must now determine its real policy and stop playing a double game. If Nikol Pashinyan is truly unaware of what is happening around him, then he should conduct an investigation.
Otherwise, all statements by the Armenian authorities about “peace” and a “new era” will turn into completely empty political decoration. Because behind that decoration lie old methods — provocation, lobbying, manipulation, and attempts to act against Azerbaijan through third parties.
