Azerbaijani parliament hears annual report on combating human trafficking

The Milli Majlis has heard the National Coordinatorchr("39")s 2025 report on combating human trafficking in Azerbaijan, Olaylar informs.

Forty-six Azerbaijani citizens became victims of human trafficking abroad in 2025. Of these, 33 in Türkiye, 10 in the UAE, and 3 in Pakistan were subjected to sexual exploitation.

The document notes that victims included 4 aged 18-25, 28 aged 25-35, and 14 over 35 years old.

In 2025, authorities identified 936 children in Azerbaijan left outside family, educational, and social influence, along with 511 parents responsible for such conditions.

Courts sentenced 14 traffickers (including 2 from previous years) to imprisonment - 4 men and 10 women. Currently, 10 suspects remain under international search via Interpol channels.

The National Coordinator also stated that 9 undocumented children were issued birth certificates by court decisions, with data entered into the State Population Register of Azerbaijan.

Additionally, one Azerbaijani citizen was found exploited in the construction sector in Montenegro. Specialized police operations confirmed the case of forced labor, and a criminal investigation was launched.
