Presidential special representative: Nearly 24,000 people live in Khankendi

Nearly 24,000 people currently live in Khankendi, Elchin Yusubov, Special Representative of the President in Khankendi city and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, said during the event titled “Post-Conflict Urban Planning: Restoring Destroyed Identity and Rebuilding an Integrated Future” held at the Azerbaijan pavilion within the framework of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), APA reports.

The special representative stated that construction of the agriculture faculty of Karabakh University in Khojaly will begin next year, and student admissions will start in the following years.

Elchin Yusubov noted that mines were the main obstacle to the restoration of these territories: “In Khankendi, 1,456 hectares, in Aghdara 10,359 hectares, and in Khojaly 9,874 hectares have been cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance.”
