Magnitude 4.8 earthquake hits Balikesir's Sindirgi

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 struck the Sindirgi district of Balikesir at 9:58 p.m. local time Sunday. The tremor was also felt in Izmir, Bursa, and Istanbul, APA reports quoting Türkiye Today.

According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the earthquake had its epicenter in Sindirgi and occurred at a depth of 7 kilometers.

AFAD says no negative incident reported

No negative developments have been reported so far.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on X that “all teams from AFAD and relevant institutions have immediately begun field surveys in relation to the 4.8-magnitude earthquake that was felt in neighboring provinces in the Sindirgi district of Balikesir.”

Meanwhile, AFAD announced that there were no negative incidents related to the earthquakes that occurred in the Sindirgi.
