ICDO Secretary-General meets with Swiss UN representative

On September 1, the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), headquartered in Geneva, Mr.  Arguj Kalantarli, met with Mr. Jürg Lauber, the Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations and other Organizations in Geneva, and also the President of the UN Human Rights Council, APA reports.

During the meeting, the Secretary-General expressed gratitude to the Swiss government for the support provided to the organization's activities in Geneva and, on behalf of the ICDO, highly appreciated the existing partnership with the host country.

The parties exchanged views on strengthening international cooperation in the field of civil defence, particularly in the areas of emergency preparedness and risk management. Arguj Kalantarli emphasized the importance of long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation between the ICDO and the relevant institutions of the Swiss Confederation. In turn, Mr. Lauber highlighted the growing importance of civil defence in the context of global security and sustainable development.

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on prospects for future cooperation and on strengthening the international civil defence network on the basis of sustainable partnership.
