President Ilham Aliyev attends opening of “Shirvan Agro” livestock complex

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the “Shirvan Agro” livestock complex in the Shamakhi district on March 23, APA reports.

Head of the Shamakhi District Executive Authority Tahir Mammadov informed the head of state about the complex.

It was noted that the complex, covering nearly 100 hectares, aims to contribute to supplying the country’s population with high-quality dairy and meat products, exporting these products, as well as supporting regional development, particularly increasing employment in Shamakhi and surrounding districts.

The complex has the capacity to accommodate 9,000 animals, including 3,200 dairy cattle, 3,000 beef cattle, and 2,800 calves. Currently, animals of Holstein-Friesian, Limousin, Aberdeen Angus and other breeds are kept there.

Equipped with the latest technologies and managed through artificial intelligence tools, the complex is one of the largest livestock enterprises in the Caucasus region and the CIS.

It is the first livestock complex in the country to use alternative and green energy.

A Training Center will also operate within the complex to train highly qualified specialists and teach the application of advanced global technologies.

The facility features Azerbaijan’s and the South Caucasus’ largest “carousel” type milking system, as well as “parallel” milking systems. An online milk quality analyzer has been installed at each milking point. An advanced system for rapid cooling of milk from 32 to 4 degrees, as well as the country’s first Reproduction Center based on the latest global genetic materials, has been established to increase milk production.

An innovative herd management system is in place for early diagnosis and rapid treatment of diseases among livestock. A special weighing system is used for real-time monitoring of herd development, efficient fattening management, and electronic weight calculation.

“AfiCollar” electronic neck tags are used to identify animals, monitor their health status, and determine precise timing for insemination.

The complex also includes a feed center equipped with innovative and specialized stationary equipment. Additionally, a meat processing facility with a “Dry Age” room equipped with innovative systems has been established.

More than 200 residents of Shamakhi and surrounding districts have been employed at the enterprise. A residential building has also been constructed within the complex to accommodate workers coming from other regions and foreign specialists.
