Azerbaijani writer to be laid to rest in Gazakh-UPDATED

Writer Vidadi Babanli will be laid to rest tomorrow in the family cemetery in the village of Shikhli in the Gazakh region, writer's daughter Leyli Babanli told APA.

She said that this was her father's will.

Azerbaijani writer Vidadi Babanli died at noon today at the age of 98, his daughter Leyli Babanli informed APA.

It should be noted that Vidadi Babanli was born on January 5, 1927 in the village of Birinci Shikhli in the Gazakh district. He studied at the Faculty of Philology of Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University). He worked as a literary worker in the editorial office of the "Azerbaijan Muallimi" (Azerbaijani Teacher) newspaper, as a literary worker in the editorial office of the "Adebiyat Qazeti" (Literature Newsopaper) newspaper, and then as a department head.

Later, he became the acting editor-in-chief in the dubbing department of the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio named after J. Jabbarli, and the deputy editor-in-chief at the "Yazichi" (Writer) publishing house. His first printed work was the poem "Anam sən oldun" (You Became My Mother), published in the "Azerbaijani Zhəndəli" newspaper in 1947.
