Russia has announced a temporary ceasefire on May 8–9 to mark Victory Day.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the truce is linked to the annual celebrations commemorating the end of World War II in Europe. The ministry expressed hope that Ukraine would follow suit and implement a similar pause in hostilities.
