Presidential Special Representative: Nearly 24,000 people live in Khankendi

Nearly 24,000 people live in Khankendi, Elchin Yusubov, Special Representative of the President in the city of Khankendi, and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, said at the event titled “Post-conflict urban planning: Restoring destroyed identity and rebuilding an integrated future” held at the Azerbaijan pavilion within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), APA reports.

The Special Representative stated that the construction of the building for the Faculty of Agriculture of Karabakh University in Khojaly will begin next year and student admissions will be carried out in the following years.

Elchin Yusubov noted that the main obstacle to the restoration of these territories was mines: “In Khankendi, 1,456 hectares, in Aghdara 10,359 hectares, and in Khojaly 9,874 hectares have been cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance.”
