A person wanted internationally was arrested in the United Arab Emirates and extradited to Azerbaijan, APA reports citing the Ministry of Justice.
Effective cooperation measures by the Ministry of Justice with the relevant authorities of foreign countries regarding the detention and transfer to our country of persons accused of committing crimes who are wanted internationally are ongoing.
On June 4, another person wanted internationally by Interpol’s National Central Bureau in the Republic of Azerbaijan was extradited to Azerbaijan by the Ministry.
Specifically, Farhad Bahruz Isgandarov, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who was accused of causing serious injuries by committing hooliganism in collaboration with a number of persons (Article 221.2.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan), was located and arrested in the United Arab Emirates.
Based on the bilateral agreement on extradition existing with the UAE, the Ministry of Justice, as the competent authority, submitted the relevant request and required documents to the other side, and effective negotiations were conducted. As a result, an agreement was reached on the extradition of this person to our country.
Farhad Isgenderov was brought from the UAE to our country by responsible officers of the Ministry’s Department of International Cooperation and the Penitentiary Service and placed in the Baku Investigation Detention Facility based on a court arrest order.
Necessary measures in this area continue to be taken by the Ministry.
