May 10 marks the 103rd anniversary of the birth of the architect and founder of modern independent Azerbaijan, the great son of the Azerbaijani people and National Leader Heydar Aliyev, APA reports.
On this occasion, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the grave of the National Leader at the Alley of Honors on May 9.
President Ilham Aliyev laid a wreath at the grave of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and paid tribute to his memory.
First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva then honored the memory of the National Leader with deep respect.
The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.
The head of state and the First Lady also paid tribute to the memory of the National Leader’s spouse, prominent ophthalmologist-scientist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva, and laid flowers at her grave.
The memory of prominent statesman Aziz Aliyev and Professor Tamerlan Aliyev was also honored.
