The West is pushing Armenia toward the same flawed logic as Ukraine against Russia, Sergey Lavrov at the Assembly of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, RIA Novosti reports.
The Russian foreign minister said that the West is trying to draw Armenia into the anti-Russian camp in order to harm Russia.
According to him, the West is trying to push Russia’s allies, first of all its neighbors — Georgia, Moldova, and now Armenia, as it did with Ukraine — toward flawed logic.
Note that in 2026, relations between Russia and Armenia are experiencing a deep systemic crisis. After freezing its membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Yerevan gradually began pursuing a course of rapprochement with the European Union at the official level. Russia has repeatedly called on the Armenian authorities to decide as soon as possible between membership in the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and has proposed holding a referendum on the matter.
